It's Fish Sticks For Dinner!

Asian Carp have gotten past the Army Corp of Engineers barrier and gotten closer to entering Lake Michigan. It is likely that there are already many in the area, but this is the first one found. It weighted in at just shy of 20 lbs. Time to start collecting carp recipes. I believe carp are referred to as "Kentucky tuna." I call 'em fish sticks.

Bear Attacks

Time to stock up on bear spray before I drive out West. One hiker has been mauled to death at the entrance to Yellowstone National Park and a fly fisher camping in Lolo National Forest was given a chewing through the side of his tent.

Fish Fingers

I didn't know that fish had fingers. You never know where those fingers have been. An ugly thought. Aw, just gross.

Even More Shrimptacular

This fly is just as at home in fresh water as it is in the brine. Maybe not in the Gulf of Mexico.

Secret Weapon

Tying up a bunch 'o flies for my Montana adventures this summer. Came upon this idea: white bait fish imitation with heavy barbell eyes. This ought to drag some big 'bows up from the deep pools.

Exhibit Of Interest--Lee Wulff

The Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University is putting up an exhibit this summer from the Lee Wulff Papers to be shown at Beinecke Library. The exhibit will detail aspects of Lee’s life, his efforts at promoting salmon conservation, and his many inventions and innovations. Primarily drawn from the papers housed at Beinecke, there will also be materials and a few objects borrowed from both Joan Wulff and the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum. Following are two links to information about the exhibit. The exhibit opens to the public on June 25th and is open until September 16th.

Western Grasshoppers (Part II)

I just read that some states out west will be spraying poison to kill the grasshoppers. Fools. I guess they want to kill fish, birds, insects and whatever else they can nab.

Mammoth Hopper Hatch Out West

I just read about the prediction of a "Biblical" hopper hatch out west this summer. Hot dog. I'll be in Montana for August. Bring on the swarms of locusts.
