Stan Bogdan Dies
Stan Bogdan, 92, of Nashua, NH died on March 27, 2011. There will be a memorial service Tuesday, April 5 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Church in Nashua.
Stan, born in Nashua in 1918 and trained as a machinist, was a legendary craftsman of fine fly fishing reels. He produced his first reel 1940. Stan developed an innovative and highly effective double-disc brake system capable of halting even the most powerful fish while maintaining incredible smoothness, a combination which is now the hallmark of fine fly reels.
Every Bogdan reel was specially handcrafted. Stan produced about 100 reels per year. Often anglers lingered on his "waiting list" for years to obtain what has become one of the most prized pieces of equipment a fly angler could possess.

Daiichi Hook Factory Unaffected By Disaster
Daiichi Hook Factory Unaffected
by Earthquake Disaster
The Daiichi Hook Factory in Japan has not been affected by the recent Earthquake, Tsunami, and nuclear power plant incidents in Japan. Many have noted that the power plant in the news is named "Fukushima Daiichi," and they were concerned by that. Fortunately the Daiichi Hook Factory is located in the Osaka region of Japan more than 370 miles from the Nuclear Disaster. Contacts near the factory reported that while they did feel the Earthquake last week, there was no major damage at all in their region of Japan and none at all to the Daiichi Hook Factory.
