Wachter Landing Nets

Just picked up a new net today at Grizzly Hackle Fly Shop In Missoula, MT. It's a ghost net. I just used it to catch a bat in the cabin. Works great!

Morrell Falls

Hiked into Morrell Falls near Seeley Lake, Montana. Lots of beaver dams and dead falls left nice cold, oxygenated water in crystal clear pools containing little brookies. 5-mile hike, lunch, brookies in the pristine wilderness...priceless.

Stones On The Roam

Captured these snaps at the river out here in Montana. The stonefly shells were everywhere. It looked like a creepy horror show. Having some luck using stonefly nymphs. What a surprise given these rock decorations.

Simms Dry Creek Tech Pouch

This is a great pouch for phone, camera or
other stream-side electronics. Keys and cigs too. It's not huge but it does the trick rather nicely. I put it in my vest or hang it around my neck, depending one my fashion whims of the day. Also, please take note of yesterday's post. Check it out at http://www.simmsfishing.com/.

Into The Drink

OK, so I am all happy fishing and take a nice one. Cool. I think, "Oh I should get a picture for my blog." I get all set ready to take a quick snap and whoa these rocks are slippery. Splash. Thought I would share with you. This is, therefore, an action shot. The action of falling that is.

The Swan River (MT)

Went out fishing on the Swan River. Mostly just checking out what the river is like this year. Found some nice spots to work while I am here for the next stretch of time. Caught a lot of these little fellas today. They were very happy to take a traditional dry fly.

FLY-AGRA Dry Fly Floatant

This stuff absolutely rocks. Flay-Agra is a dipping formula that keeps dries floating forever. It is great to keep dry flies riding high even on rough water. It is like the old Fran Betters potion, which was white gas and carnuba wax. This is actually better because it is not prone to solidify. It is distributed by http://www.yellowstoneflygoods.com/. This is a must have for your vest.

Yellowstone River

Spent some time on the Yellowstone River. Fishing report: excellent. Hatch report: these little gals, about size 16-18.

Pheasants On The Prarie

More sculpture (or some awesome fly tying materials). The car gives you a nice perspective on the size of these birds.

Hopper Invasion

This is the next sculpture. A local guy makes these art works looming on the prairie out of scrap metal. Think cutting and welding old grain silos and other farm scrap.

Fisherman's Paradise

OK, so we are driving down the highway in North Dakota and we see signs for the "Enchanted Highway." The sign indicates that there will be 7 metal outdoor sculptures. Cool. Let's take a detour. Well here is "Fisherman's Paradise." That's me sitting in the tail of the rainbow trout .
